Batumi residents of the old generation well remember the "Harlequin" statue standing in Batumi's Central Park (former Pioneer Park). The figure of the clown standing on the ball, which was created in the 80s of the last century, and in the dark days of the 90s, fell victim to unknown, unidentified circumstances and disappeared from the "Pioneer Park". When the idea of establishing a festival came up, we started thinking about what should be the prize for the winners. It was at this time that the harlequin, which became a symbol of Batumi, came to life in our memories and it was decided that if Mr. Otar agreed, his harlequin would become the source of inspiration for our festival prize. A few weeks before his death, we shared the idea of establishing a festival and creating a prize. He was pleased, blessed us on the way, and with his permission, a stylised figure was created from existing photos. It was first made from dough by Zura Chkhartishvili, and the sculptor Giorgi Kikvadze gave it its final appearance. "Harlequin" Youth, School Theatre Group Festival "First Autograph" is awarded to the winners in various nominations.
The bright memory of the soul of Mr Otar. We will remember his work with gratitude at all subsequent festivals.
